Systems Integration Planning and Design
Problem
A major Aerospace manufacturer had several manufacturing
applications that required redundant data entry processes to
operate properly. This frequently resulted in inaccurate
data synchronization, poor performance and missed opportunities
due to the inability to share information across multiple
applications. Furthermore, it was extremely difficult and
time consuming to develop reports as requested by users.
Solution
Infusion was contracted to develop CORBA-based integration
technology to allow seamless integration between line-of
business applications. Infusion personnel developed the
design and specifications as well as the code for
the business objects to be used by the integration platform.
Result
The project was implemented in less than a year and all business
objectives identified by the manufacturer were met. The
integration efforts between the business applications was fully
completed and resulted in increased manufacturing efficiencies,
increased data integrity and enhanced accessibility of data to
end users. An additional benefit was the ability to
recombine the newly created business objects developed by this
project to create whole new classes of applications.
